The holidays are in full schwing and this weekend there are a TON of rides and events to choose from to get your holly on, including the 8th Annual Midnight Ridazz All-City Toy Drive, the Chrome20 Wrenched_LA ride, an LACBC caroling ride and a Mission Workshop pop-up shop at Golden Saddle.
Friday evening, Golden Saddle Cyclery in Silverlake is kicking off their Mission Workshop pop-up shop with a beer-soaked blowout.
Friday is also the night when crews from all over the southland don their ugliest holiday sweaters, light up their bikes and get together to do some good for kids in need – it’s the 8th Annual Midnight Ridazz All City Toy Drive. Bring a new unwrapped gift with a value of 5-25 bucks and either join one of the tons of feeder rides leaving from most everywhere in LA, or join the meetup at 10:30pm at the Olvera Street Gazebo downtown. The event is at an undisclosed location, you gotta RSVP here to get a free ticket.
Here are just a few of the feeder rides heading to the Olivera Street meetup spot: Bicycle District, Echo Park (MoM Ridaz) Griffith Park (Passage Ride), the Westside, Pasadena, Long Beach. To find the feeder ride in your area, check out the full list at Midnight Ridazz. Pretty sure I’ll be taking the Bicycle District ride over.
Saturday at 10am, Sweet Ride USA rider Andrea brings the Bodacious Bike Babes, joining with LA Bike Trains to all be a part of the Echo Park Community Parade. Come out to watch or ride with ’em in the parade!
Saturday at 4:30, friend of the show Mooney Star is taking adventurous souls on a ride to the Cypress Village Tunnel Art Walk. Meet up at the Sunset Triangle, and dress warm. As Mooney puts it – “it’s impossible to be cute and cold.”
Saturday and Sunday in Griffith Park is Santa Cross Weekend – the finale of Dorothy Wong’s SoCalCross Prestige Series. I hear the course is all uphills and/or downhills, so this should be a blast and/or deeply painful.
On Sunday, the LACBC is hosting their annual family-friendly tour around the holiday homes in the lovely Larchmont area for some seasonal on-bike caroling. Get your fa la la la la la’s in pitch, bitches. Meet at 4:30 p.m. at Rotary Club Christmas tree Lot – 568 N. Larchmont Blvd.
I’m stoked to hit a bunch of these – got my little LED light up xmas tree on my handlebars, a hideous holiday sweater vest and a Spotify playlist of seasonal chestnuts to blast on these fine streets for maximum merrymaking.
